September 5th, 2015 at the Clarens Interiors, Park Square

Cancer is a class of diseases characterised by out of control cell growth. There are over 100 different types of cancer with the most common ones being breast, lung, colon, skin, prostate and ovarian cancer.
Each type of cancer is classified by the type of cell that is initially affected.

Cancer is considered to be one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide with the World Health Organisation estimating that there are millions of new cancer cases and deaths each year. It is for this reason that every measure is put in place to prevent and treat cancer all over the world. The world in different ways has also deliberately continued to celebrate survivors of cancer. One of the avenues this is done is through the Cancer Bark For Life. The town of Clarens will once again be part of this global event in 2015.

Bark for Life is a cancer society that traces its roots back to North America. This is a noncompetitive fundraising walk for dogs and their owners aimed at celebrating the lives of those who survived cancer. Bark For Life is an opportunity for people to be empowered through their canine companion partnerships.

Canine Companions are Guide Dogs, Service Dogs, Rescue Dogs, Therapy Dogs, Cancer Survivor Dogs and Diagnostic Dogs. Canine companions in this regard demonstrate unconditional love, joy, security, compassion and no judgement of cancer survivors abilities or appearances.

This event in Clarens will be supported by corporate partners with heavy involvement of Cluny Animal Trust. The fee is charged as a combined fee of person and a dog. The participant will in turn walk away with a goody bag.
